Thursday night football, baseball and phones

Just a few quick takes on this Friday morning:

Obviously the Green Bay Packers looked a lot different than they did against a very good 49ers team in the first week of the season.  Jay Cutler has weapons to throw the ball to finally (and I have two of their players on my fantasy football team) but if he's got pressure in his face then he's not going to be able to get the ball to those weapons, now is he?

Also, that was a very ugly game.  There were a lot of penalties in that game, and lots of turnovers.  But that went for all the Thursday night games.

This win should also allow the Packers to build some momentum.  Two of their next three games are against Seattle and Indianapolis which should be easy victories (then again victories rarely come easy in the National Football League).

The schedule would dictate that the Packers should at least be 3-2 when they head to Houston in mid-October for that enormous Sunday night football game, with a 50/50 game against the Saints to become 4-1.

Coming down the stretch of the baseball season, it's nice to see some underdogs battling for some big-time spots.  Baltimore Orioles fans haven't had anything to cheer about since 1997 and yet here they are, battling with New York for the top spot in the American League East.  You have Oakland battling for the AL West title as well.  It would be very funny to see New York have to face Oakland for a wild card spot if it happens.

As far as the iPhone, the new iPhone goes, I don't have one.  I have a BlackBerry and am satisfied with that, but one thing I don't like about the BlackBerry is a lot of the applications you can get on the iPhone, you can't get on the BlackBerry.  Words with Friends is an example.

Until next time...
