NFL and College Football - Sept. 10

Just a few thoughts from the past weekend of football - and for the record, it's been a glorious six days of football which will cap tonight.

Husker football fans are freaking out with the Fire Bo Pelini Facebook pages, etc, etc.  As far as that goes, I'm on the record as saying it's not time to go to that level yet.  However, the assistant coaching staff is generally terrible (especially on defense) and they are horrible at tackling.  That's the coach's responsibility.  I personally think 8-4 is still a realistic prediction, but that Wisconsin game is a must win.

That Devon Walker helmet to helmet hit in that Tulsa/Tulane game was rather scary.  His life is changed forever now...a cracked spine.  It's a dangerous game.

Robert Griffin III - what a special talent.  In a hostile environment, he did exactly what Washington fans hoped he would do.  They've been looking for a savior in DC for the last 10 years at quarterback and now they might finally have one.

And Peyton Manning - how impressive was he.  That looked like the old, vintage Indianapolis offense last night.  Denver is easily the best team in the West, it's just a matter of what their record will be because their schedule is very, very difficult.

San Francisco - statement win over Green Bay.  30-22 was the final but that game was not as close as the score indicated.

Houston scored 21 points in 1:46 against Miami - I've heard of quick strike teams but I'll have to see how many teams have scored 21 points in less than two minutes.

Until next time....
